After a slow start falling behind 11-0 in the first 5 minutes Coach J of Lone Star College Kingwood called a time out and made some key defensive adjustments. After the stoppage the Coyotes came to life on both sides of the court roaring back to tie the game going into halftime. 

The second half was all Kingwood taking a lead on the first possession and never looking back leading by as much as 10 midway through play. However, the team struggled with turnovers and several missed opportunities down the stretch, allowing Montgomery to chip away at the lead, bringing the deficit down to just 2 points. A contested three and clutch free throw shooting in the final minute was all that was necessary to ice the game giving the team their second straight opening day victory as they prepare to face off against the high powered Prairie View A&M next week.
